Look out for Aris...

He is bigger than YOU. He puts 50miles of Fri - 75miles on Sat - 45miles on Sun and still had something left in the tank to rock the last 3climbs on the last mile of the last day. If this kid stays true to riding, he will be pulling us to a TIv4 finish fo sho!

The weekend wasn't filled with any school girls but it was sprinkled cross bikes and superflys. Saturday featured the doc ride which dropped me like a bad habit in less than 3miles. Sunday had banana walnut pancakes. Monday, brings wonderfully sore legs and a desire like never before to ride MORE.

Ride Home

Aris finished off his 50miler with a nice cruise home from Downtown Brew City with I and Trixie. It's almost uncut.

Weekend

40min on the spin before I suit up for work. Close to 40 degrees today so the commute should be nice. Speaking of commute. AriS is making the ride down to the South Side today for some TIv4 weekend fun. Saturday we will ride west in search of some gravel goodness. Sunday we hook up with the School Girl for a nice 70ish cruise.

Bbones has been cleared by the doc and should be back on his spring training schedule sometime this weekend. Hip is really all that is bothering him. No word yet on the lady that was involved. Thanks to everyone who checked in and have passed on the awareness test.

I really really can't wait...

Get Well Brandon

While I was in class tonight I got a text - "B was hit by a car". I froze...I panicked.

He is ok. No broken bones. His back and hip might keep him off the bike for a bit. He was in a cross walk riding his bike home from school. @ 30mph(per witness) a car took out his rear wheel... He got up and told the lady he was fine, so the lady gave him her name and phone number and drove away. What?!? Reality must have set in and B was immediately hospitalized after witnesses called 911. I received a message from Brandon while I was on my ride home. He said he was really sore, but that he is ok. So far that is all I know. I can't seem to get a hold of anyone up in Marshfield. Hopefully more info will come, along with good news on Brandon's recovery. Brandon, Get well and and keep those pedals turning(riding is your ticket to many things in life)

My Helmet Doesn't Fit Any More

New Cockpit

I really hope Trans Iowa doesn't bring today's winds...30mph headwind. My hands should probably thank me after 300+miles with the new cockpit that was installed today. 2hours in the saddle found me some numb hands when on the hoods...hmmm. I really can't mess much with bar tilt. Move the hoods up or move them down? Only saddle time will tell.

Group Ride Sunday

The weather was nice and the kids were jump'n. The O made his way the the South Side on Friday to join up and give Brandon and Jordan their Spring Training wake up calls. Just before we started to roll, Jordan had asked fixedgeargus to flip/flop his wheel so he could ride a coasting bike...Reluctantly I made the swap. Jordan was now confidence inspired to stretch the field on a couple of occasions.

Cruising at a blistering pace, Jordan glanced over his shoulder to see where we were and immediatly hightailed to draft the truck. Before I could blink, Jordan was sucked into the plow's draft spinning at a solid 23mph. We had to chase. Thankfully the plow made a right turn and we were able to bring J back.

The middle part of the ride turned a bit nasty when Jordan decided to hit a wall due to the wicked head wind. I decided to pull all off the road for a refuel. Jerky nuggets to the rescue. We continued west to a nice little hill climb were we did 5 hill repeats. Brandon showed us his stuff going head to head with Theo. You are gonna wanna keep your eye out for him this year, all three of these boys for that matter.

After the hills we turned around to retrace our skid marks. Tail wind pushed Brandon and I to a spin out while the freewheels got pushed on the descents. Turned out to be a great ride. 2hours in the saddle and one step closer to achilles bliss...

Indoor/Outdoor Day

I started off the day being the pace segway(escort) for Ronald's runners. They were running the game ball for the McDonalds All American Basketball game from the Ronald McDonald House to the BC in Downtown Milwaukee. It was fun...You might see me in the urinal or FOX 6 real soon. Paul is the man!

Brandon, Jordan and I sprinted home to do some bike work before our ride. Water bottle cages, a swap from a 15 to a 16 on Jordan's rear and another swap from a 44cm to 42cm bull horn. One hour later, we were off. Our goal was to spend 2.5hrs in route to Waukesha. Well, J was dogging it. He was falling back even on the descents. Ugh. It was not beneficial for anyone. So I turned us around to get back home. We had to take turns on the trainer instead. We ended up with an hour on the fixies and each of us did our personal plans on the Revmaster. An ok day with some GREAT weather.

Guns and Bikes - Fixed 101

Drove over to EXPO on Sunday to pick up Brandon and Jordan's new do-everything bikes. Always secure your feet before anything else. Oh yeah, and no coasting.

These are Bull Horns. Don't ever take your hands off of them. And no coasting.

Took them to the cage for some "get a feel for it" time.

Of course, you gotta teach them how to look pronasty on a fixie.

All and all a great first day. Class is in session - MTWRThS n Sun. This is sure to whip them into shape this season.

MMI7 pics can be found here and here. Man, that was fun!

Do Rag

: a kerchief worn especially to cover the hair

A do-rag, also spelled doo-rag, du-rag, durag is a piece of cloth used to cover the head.

The term do-rag is derived from "hair-do" and "rag."

The Watkins juniors took turns on Sunday. 90min each-

These kids have some big goals for 2008

I threw down a 50min interval session - cadence has been the latest focus this spring err winter. Trixie put in 60min while I took Buckwheat to the track for a 30min run. times2 today with a nap in between - nice.
